An air traffic controller directed a United flight dangerously close to an American plane in July. The American pilot yanked the plane up to avoid a possible collision, The New York Times reported. An American Airlines pilot had to yank his plane upward 700 feet to avoid colliding with a United flight in July, according to an investigation published Monday by The New York Times. The American plane then flew above the potential point of contact, with the United flight passing below shortly after. The Times said the American flight was traveling 500 mph — or about 8.3 miles per minute — when the incident occurred.

As of now, the processing time for a new passport or a renewal is estimated at 10-13 weeks, according to the State Department. The State Department is facing "unprecedented demand" for passports, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, according to CBS News. The April estimate for expedited passport processing, which will cost you an extra $60, is about 7-9 weeks, the agency says. On its site, the State Department acknowledges extended wait times for calls about passport issues, and offered processing options for applicants.

CEO Alex Atwood didn't register his business in California and Texas, where an employee spent time working. As a result, Atwood said that his company racked up between $20,000 and $30,000 in taxes, registration fees and penalties in surprise bills.
